History

Well, it all started with The Bay. Then it became Splash. The owners of Splash closed down and leased the building to a guy named Grant to create Vortex. Grant had the idea to create a mixed 18+ and 21+ Wednesday night. It was a hit, especially with the college crowd, and Vortex Wednesday became the hottest club night int he state.

Over time, Vortex lost control of it's doors and 18+ kids repeatedly made their way into the 21+ areas of the club. The DABC cracked down and finally told Vortex that it needed to get it's shit together or close down.

Grant licensed the Vortex name to it's former head of security to form Vortex 2k6 and went 21+ exclusively. Since Grant and the other owners never bothered to capitalize on the success of Vortex Wednesday night and leverage that into other successful nights, the club began it's decline. It raised money several times from investors and took on partners, including the former owner of Exchange, until finally closing down.

The lease and license were acquired by a group of real estate and mortgage brokers led by Ben Daniels. The group raised mid six figures and completely renovated the building, including draining the flooded basement. They reopened the club as Bliss.
